Finally I have obtained datasets stretching back to the 1950’s from other former weather stations in the area. Using the statistics obtained from these records and combining them with my own will lead to a very accurate refinement of data in the climate section of this website over the coming months. Statistical overload probably J

Some people have asked me why the weather forecast page isn't updated everyday, I try to update this page as often as I can but it is rather time consuming sadly.

Heat index V's wind chill. Both are equally viable, although they merely convey how conditions feel to a human being and are not absolute such as air temperature. I tend to use the heat index value on the current conditions page in summer months, changing to a wind chill value for the remainder of the year. Heat index values assume you are sheltered from the wind and wind-chill values assume you are fully exposed and unsheltered from the wind.

As from July '05 I have introduced a "mesomap" on the current conditions page. I realise this makes the page a large download now, particularly for those who have dial-up internet. I am experimenting with ways to make this map as small a file as possible - without loosing too much quality. Please email me if you have any comments about this map, or feel it is spoiling your enjoyment of the site in any way - in which case I shall insert it in a separate page. Some people have also asked why some temperatures appear sporadically/infrequently on the map? This is because the particular stations only report conditions once every six hours.

From November 19th, 2005 I've re-introduced a webcam picture which updates every 5 minutes on the current conditions page. After a 3 year absence, I hope its return is welcomed. I've also created a new page; "time-lapsed weather", an experimental page which creates 24 hour long and week long videos from the webcam images. I'm sure there will be problems with these video files initially as I work out and refine the compression settings. Please bare with it though, it should be very worth while in the end.

The website now has around 100 visitors per day, it's came a long way since it's lowly beginnings in November 2000.

Please continue to either use the guestbook on the home page of this site, or email me directly at alex114@blueyonder.co.uk to air your views about my site. All questions, comments, advice and helpful tips are welcome. And your doing so inspires me to improve and upgrade the site further.

Continuing regards.

Alex.
