Kindly donated to me by a colleague, Amanda Nelson. The following are images of a funnel cloud spotted in the vicinity of Strathclyde Park on a Saturday afternoon in August 2006. Well done Amanda!

But, if you think the above pictures are pretty neat, Amanda managed to capture this much better sequence of images only six weeks later. Her luck, despite no interest in storm chasing, is is very enviable! Indeed she seems to be a quite a funnel cloud magnet :-) ! The pictures, taken on a mobile phone shortly before 6pm in Newmains, Wishaw coincided with a torrential downpour at my site which had a peak rainfall rate just over 32mm/hour. I did at the time notice a great deal of circulation in the clouds and it showed up well in that days time-lapse footage. Not being far from Newmains I should have been able to witness the event for myself had I looked in the correct direction! Many thanks Amanda.
