North Lanarkshire's Climate

In this section I deal with long range statistics gathered from my site as well as a yearly report system. I began recording weather with reliable scientific instrument here in late 1993. I also now have local measurements taken by other individuals and bodies stretching back to the late 1950’s.

·        The temperature range recorded in Wishaw is 55.5ºC, or if you prefer; 132ºF, and it happened in 1995!

·        Typically Wishaw receives 3 feet of water from the clouds per year.

·        Recent years have seen a remarkable rise in the number of thunderstorms in our area. Why?

·        Not quite cats & dogs… But it has rained crickets before!

Are we entering an ice age? Three progressively severe winters in Scotland to 2011
